So I grow tired of a ton of online armchair “experts” telling the world that they don’t need MCT, they can just use Coconut Oil, it is the same.
THAT IS STUPID — That is like saying you can just use Crude Oil in your car instead of gasoline
MCT is made from Coconut Oil but it is a refined version – like gasoline from crude oil. The MCT you REALLY WANT for your brain and body is going to be C8. (MCT’s come in C6, C8, C10 and C12) C6 burns so it isn’t really used, C8 is the brain and body booster. C10 and C12 are really only found in cheaper versions of MCT so if you are on a budget and can tolerate them, they will save you some $ but C12 is hard on digestion so you may spend a lot of time in the bathroom.
In Regular coconut oil, only 7% is C8 so you have to have a little over 14 Tbsp to get the same amount of C8 that is in 1 Tbsp PLAIN C8 MCT Oil.
Another difference is that Coconut oil has a taste – a good MCT DOES NOT. So you can add it to coffee, salad, recipes and not get that Hawaiian Tropic aftertaste and smell.
So there are a few of the facts if someone has you confused.
